1.2-bromobenzoic acid is reacted with phosphoryl bromide in sodium hydroxide solution to obtain 2-(2-bromophenyl) acetic acid.
2. esterification of 2-(2-bromophenyl) acetic acid with 2-oxopropionyl chloride in alkaline solution to give 2-(2-Bromophenyl)-2-oxoacetic acid.
